bread in bag and skirt

Bread and Thread

Baking and sewing come together in this fun two-part make and take course. Start your morning by preparing some loaves for the oven before engaging in one of the oldest and useful textile arts.

Sewing is a fun way to get your hands and ideas working together. In this class you will laugh and be creative, and you may wonder why you waited so long to learn to sew or get back to sewing. We will focus on how to use a sewing machine, practice stitching, make a buttonhole and create a pattern. Use your new skills to design and make a bag and a basic wrap around skirt or shorts with pockets.

Sewing machines, tools and fabric will be provided. If you have a working sewing machine you would like to learn to use, you are welcome to bring it in. (Note: You must include sewing feet, all plugs and cords and instruction manual.) Face masks are required inside the classroom. Lunch will be included.
