Learn this venerable Chinese martial arts to improve your mental and physical health. It is an excellent prescription for stress relief and is noted for increasing the mind’s ability to focus. While strengthening and limbering the body, it also increases circulation and has been shown to lower blood pressure. It is a subtle and sophisticated martial art. New students are welcome at the first class in January, April, July and October.

The Healing Force of Chi Kung
Easily memorized, Chi Kung movements (the basis of Tai Chi) build: energy (Chi), mind/body integration, centeredness, and sustained concentration through gentle movements and patterns. Students report improved flexibility, natural breathing, mental focus, and well-being. During this course you will view video tapes of Master Teachers and learn ancient techniques for healing. The instructor is Marie Riley, M.A. and L.M.T., the Director of the Acupressure Center of Hawai’i. Marie studied with Mary Chou, Al Huang, and Marshall Ho.

GE - Chi Kung Breath and Imagery for Healing (2 of 4)
You can experience Chi-balancing by slowly moving your hands near your body for well-being. This self-help technique traditionally affects deficiencies, pain, and inflammation. Synchronizing our breath with Chi Kung movements, we will increase our inner strength. Also, we will practice imagery and breathing exercises while sitting to increase our sense of being centered and integrated.

GE - Flexibility for Your Back and Neck (3 of 4)
Release tension and increase range of motion in your neck and back by practicing gentle yoga movements. Also, we will gently locate relevant shiatsu points and reflexology points for self-help. Benefit by re-balancing all systems: breath, digestion, circulation, nerves, and muscles. Chi Kung continues.

GE - Improving Posture with Imagery and Movement (4 of 4)
For greater ease in sitting, standing, and walking we will practice alignment imagery and movements. We will learn Constructive Rest Position imagery plus practical images for non-efforting posture developed by Todd at Columbia University in the 1920s. We will practice Feldenkrais movements plus Chi Kung.
